49 Days..

Until my little toes step off the plane in Munich and face my new life in Europe! I am so excited I can hardly contain myself. I will miss good old Vancouver though, my home for the past 21 years!
But on the other hand, Europe!! All these countries at your fingertips... skiing in the Alps, drinking coffee from little French cafes and tasting the finest wine Italy, life is good. Can't wait!!!

In A Week...
I'll be off to Prague again!! I am so excited! The coincidence here is that exactly 10 years ago, I was in Buddapest for my 21st birthday on a school sponsored trip. Looks like I will be spending my 31st birthday in the same city (or very close to it!). We are planning on visiting the Czech Republic (Prague and surrounding cities), Hungary (Buddapest), Germany (Munich) and Austria (haven't decided where yet). Yay.

Now lots to do before my trip, I'd better get to it!!

Sorrento
I'm dissapointed we didn't take more pictures of Sorrento. It was a lovely little resort town with a huge shopping strip (pictured below). It was only on the last day that we discovered these hide-away side streets with incredible food and fun DC shops.

Shoes, shoes and more shoe shops.

Marina area near our hotel.

Lemon was the town fruit and everything was colored in yellow (this includes buildings).

It's Friday!

Went to the opening night of Overruled yesterday, a play my friend Fabrice starred in. It was a great show, cute and very funny. It was held at the Dorothy Somerset Studio at UBC. The setting was very intimate, we sat in the front row and it felt like we were part of the stage! People that can act always amaze me, since I can't act to save my life. Come to think of it, I can't even lie with out giving it away on my face...

Heading to Whistler for some springtime skiing Sat, looking forward to hitting the park!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Naples
If Cinque Terre sits on one side of the scale, Naples would be the opposite. CT was tiny, peaceful, relaxing, and full of nature. Naples? Dirty, crowded, huge and wildly exciting!! This place reminded us both a lot of the Big Apple.

Marketing shopping was our friend. We killed many hours picking through clothes stands run by street vendors. There were some great finds!!

Happy shoppers... I found a cute army green blazer for $15!!

I have to say that Ev and I had the most insane bus ride! We were jam packed onto this bus with our luggage in tow and people were pushing us every which way, it was just like China! Guide books recommended we stay away from public transit due to the high rate of pick pickets. But we figured it was an adventure. We must have looked hilarious to the locals though... two Asian girls with a death grip on their purses (though we both wear money belts inside) and trying to stay standing and figure out which stop to get off at.

Have I told you I love coffee?

You can't tell from the picture but it was very windy!!

The lovely sardine can-esque feel of our compartment on the sleeper train. Yes, it was as small as it looks and my bed had sand in the sheets. Getting ready for bed was a bit of a challenge since the space only allowed standing room for one person. Surprisingly, I slept thru most of the 8 hour ride from CT to Naples.

Does this not remind you of Vancouver?

Cinque Terre
This was one of my favorite places... five small towns dotted along the coast line, joined by a local train. I'll let the pictures do most of the talking here.

Picturesque scenery from a hike Ev and I did. Every view point was this amazing...

Walkway leading up to the suite we stayed at. Most travellers do not book accomodations ahead of time. The locals wait for new arrivals at the train station and you do all the bargaining there. We were VERY skeptical when a man approached us but it was the sweetest, cleanest, nicest place!!

The suite included the cutest little kitchen where we made our own meals. Bathroom had a washer inside!

The BEST pesto ever. Came from the local grocery shop, all home made. YUM!! (and yes, those are chopsticks...haha).

Cafe along the boardwalk. Did I mention I LOVE the cappucinos there?

Hiking trail.

Monterosso, one of the five villages.

We saw some Italians playing Baci ball right next to the walkway.

Unfortunately I woke up on my first day here with the WORST neckpain I've ever experienced. I don't know what it was but tears were welling up every time I tried to move. Ev had to literally roll me out of bed that morning. I couldn't do anything that day, so I bought myself a bottle of white and sat my ass down right by the water, sunbathing. Yup, the ENTIRE DAY.

I was daydreaming about moving here... wouldn't it be lovely?

Local train connecting the five towns.
